Weekly Swing Reminder - Straight Back-Straight Through

Have you ever thought about taking the club back and
through on the same straight line. More than likely you
have heard this hundreds of times. It’s really hard to
visualize, but if you think about a set of railroad
tracks for your visual aid, you’d be right on track.
Visualize your feet/body on one track and your club
traveling on the other track. Now do you see it?
If your club travels inside or outside the line your
shots will be offline. Placing two golf clubs on the
ground parallel about a foot apart will give you the same
look and it’s a great drill to use on the range. Keep the
club traveling straight back and straight through and I bet
your offline shots get better. Have a great round.

Weekly Swing Reminder - Follow Through

Finish the golf swing. You’ve probably never heard that
phrase, huh? Do you hit a lot of shots low and right?
If you do, then this could help you hit better golf shots.
How about trying to finish with your belt buckle aiming at
your target. A good drill is to start with your finish and
go backwards in slow motion. See if you can feel your way
backwards and notice what the golf club and your body are
doing during this drill. Do you feel the weight shift
from your right side back to your left side? Do you feel
the finish? Try this drill for ten slow motion swings
ten times a day for a week. I bet you will get the
weight shift and learn to finish your golf swing.

Weekly Swing Reminder - Confidence

Be confident in all you do. Know that you can make the shot,
whatever the shot is. Positive self talk is an awesome
thing. I caddied some LPGA events in the early 90s and it
always amazed me that the ladies would talk themselves into
hitting a good golf shot. From the time they pulled the club
out of the bag, they talked to themselves and not once did
I ever hear one say anything negative. They told themselves
“this is the perfect club, the perfect yardage, and I have
the ability to hit a great shot”. Now how could you ever hit
a bad shot with confidence like that?
